Founded in 1842 by the friars of the Order of St. Augustine, Villanova is a comprehensive Roman Catholic institution that welcomes students of all faiths. Located in a suburban community 12 miles (or 20 kilometers) west of Philadelphia, the picturesque 254-acre campus features more than 60 buildings The University offers a wide variety of degree programs through four colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Villanova School of Business, the College of Engineering, and the College of Nursing. Villanova University has been ranked #1 by US News and World Report in the Best Universities-Master's category in the northern region. Villanova has around 6,000 undergraduates come from 49 states and 29 foreign countries. Villanova has 545 full-time faculty members, 90 percent of whom hold the highest degree in their field, teach classes that average 22 students. Today, the campus is energized by a distinguished and nationally recognized faculty and by the more than 10,000 students who are pursuing degrees in over 40 majors. Villanova and its programs have received accreditation through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the AACSB International, the American Chemical Society, the American Bar Association, the Association of American Law Schools, the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners, the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and echnology, the National Catholic Education Association, and the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board. Villanova is a member in good standing of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Villanova also offered financial assistance to prospective freshmen through the Villanova grant program. Villanova University is located on a beautiful 254-acre, tree-shaded campus in Villanova, PA (just outside of Philadelphia). Villanova University was recently ranked the #1 University in the North for the 15th time by U.S. News & World Report.
