The University of Scranton founded in 1888 as Saint Thomas College, it achieved university status in1938 and was entrusted to the care of the Society of Jesus in 1942. University offers various programs through College of Arts and Sciences, Panuska College of Professional Studies, Kania School of Management, Dexter Hanley College, The Graduate School. The University of Scranton built the foundation of success for their students in their personal, public and professional lives. It offers an education steeped in centuries-old traditions, with its most advanced techniques. University has approximately 4,800 students including adult, part-time and graduate students. Its 3,800 full-time undergraduate students come from 29 states and 12 foreign countries. About 950 students enroll each year as freshmen. The University of Scranton is accredited by The Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Graduate School is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). The University of Scranton is a remarkable community. Among the reasons our community is so dynamic and supportive are the range of services and resources we provide and, most importantly, the way in which our students take ownership of their Scranton experience. The University of Scranton's scholarship and financial aid program provides both merit and need-based awards to qualified freshmen and transfer students. Scranton also offers a wide range of varsity and intramural athletics programs, special academic programs, faculty/student research opportunities, clubs and activities.The University offers 23 master’s programs that will prepare you for careers in health care, education, business, research, counseling, human resources, chemistry, computers and technology, or further study.
