Nurses usually perform their duty in medical institution under the supervision of a Doctor. But there are degrees available that will give nurses the freedom of practicing their profession independently. Nursing Practitioner degree is one such program. Generally only those nurses who have earn a Master degree or its equivalent degree in nursing can only apply for Nursing Practitioner Degree. This does not mean that you must have a license for Registered Nurse. Many Schools have a program that if completed successfully prepares you to have both RN and NP licenses. Getting admission in to this type of schools is very tough. The usual duration for Nurse Practitioner degree program is vary from 1-2 years. You can earn Nursing Practitioner degree two ways. One is through net, and other is visiting the School for lectures. Most prefers the on-line options as doing degree on-line you don’t have to compromise your present job.

Again this is also a specialty program and the curriculum is vary depends on which specialization area you have selected. In general the course includes how to supervise hospitals or clinic’s health care staff, how to manage medical examination, how to evolve a treatment plan etc. In sort they will improve your skill and make it as good as a general practitioner doctor.
After successfully completing the Nurse Practitioner degree program, you can practice independently like any general practitioner Doctor. Or you can join with the busy doctors in their private office and earn salary which is equivalent to doctor.
