Basically there are so much programs and certificates offered by so much Schools and Colleges that it is easily get confused about what certificates in nursing one has to choose in order to suits individual requirements. Most of the Nursing certificate program is available on-line or on-campus. Out of 30 odd different certificate courses only four types of program is most important to develop ones career in nursing profession. Those are
1. License Practical Nurse program: This is a basic entry-level certificate program for nursing. Many nursing schools and even some of the Vocational schools offer this type of program to anyone with just a high school level education. After completing the LPN program you have to pass NCLEX-PN examination in order to earn license.
2. Associate Degree in nursing program: If you want to earn the license and practice as Registered Nurse, than apart form different route this program is preferred by most. You can earn ADN certificate from many schools and colleges that offers ADN course. This is the minimum requirement for Registered Nurse license. Duration may be 2-3 years, after that you have to clear NCLEX-RN exam.
3. Bachelor degree in nursing program: Associate Degree will get you a job in Nursing but to rise from it to the supervisor category, you must have BSN. This degree certificate you can earn ON-line or On-campus from many accredited Colleges. This program is recommended by The American Association of Colleges of Nursing, as a must for would be nurse.
4. Master Degree in nursing program: This is highly specialized degree program which opens up big opportunities for BSN nurses. Master degree holder will get around double the salary of RN. They are always in demand and you will always find many vacancies for Master Nursing degree holder in news papers. Apart from this a Master Nursing degree holder can start their practice independently like Doctors. After the Master Nursing degree you can study, short specialized courses or go for a PhD program. |
