You want to make career in the field of law, than JD degree program is very useful entry level degree in the field of law. In America JD degree is nothing but previously known as LLB degree. Full name of JD degree is Juris Doctor Degree. To earn a JD degree is not easy. The Admissions Committee is the final authority for admission in to the JD Degree program. In the year 2003 this committee has allow only 242 students out of 5,222 students for admission in to JD Degree program.

There are two types of Juris Doctor Degrees. 1. Executive JD Degree: Students with this degree are not allowed to practice the law in court room. It is more or less an academy degree and 2. JD Degree: This degree allows the student to practice law in the court room. Education requirement for JD Degree program is varies usually a Bachelor degree from any accredited college is enough but there are other requirements which you have to check before applying for admission. The Admission Committee decision is based on various factors which include your different records like academic, extracurricular activity etc. and most important is your law related work experiences. Around 80-90% student who admitted to the JD degree program has minimum 1 year of experience in the law field.

The JD degree curriculum is different for different JD degree programs. Bachelor degree program for Juris Doctor is very exhaustive and covers the topics like how to prepare the contacts and the law of contracts, Law of Torts, practice and procedures of criminal and civil law, studying the constitutional law and many more.

After successfully completing the JD degree program you will be awarded a degree of JD. Once you have earn a JD degree you can apply and pass the “Bar examination” in your state, after which you are ready to practice in the court. You can also earn higher degrees in specialized program.
