If you want to enter in to the medical field in easiest way, than go for a Bachelor Science Nursing degree course, abbreviated as BSN. You have a choice of two types of Degree course in nursing. One is Generic and other is Upper division. The Generic degree course for nursing is basically an undergraduate program. The duration of this program is four years. In this course a student will receive the theory and training from the scratch. But for the nurses who are already registered and passed either Associate Degree Nursing or having a diploma in nursing can apply for Upper division course. Select this program if you are already a registered nurse and wish to study further to earns a Bachelor degree that is passing from RN to BSN.
The course is usually on-campus or residential one. But there are some institutions that offer Bachelor Science Nursing degree program on-line. Master Degree program in nursing is also offered by many colleges.
What they teach you?
For Generic course they will teach you from the basic of nursing to more advanced nursing. A typical course includes many topics related to nursing profession. The program of Bachelor Science Nursing degree covers both practical and theory. Some of the subjects are Human Physiology and Anatomy, Psychology general and applied microbiology, Pathology and many more. Every student is required to attend the clinic for 5-6 hours per day. Apart from this the degree course also includes nursing in military, hospital or clinic administration, research, nursing for public health etc.
After successful completing the Bachelor Science Nursing degree program you will be awarded BSN degree certificate. This certificate is your entry to medical field. You can apply and become the registered nurse and work for the hospitals or clinics. Or you may go for Master degree program. The starting salary for a BSN is more than a RN. |
